UAN activation, Aadhaar linking deadline under ELI scheme extended to February 15: Check how to activate UAN online
EPFO Extends Deadline for UAN Activation and Aadhaar Linking Under ELI Scheme to February 15
The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has once again extended the deadline for activating Universal Account Numbers (UAN) and linking Aadhaar with bank accounts under the Employment Linked Incentive (ELI) scheme. The new deadline is now set for February 15.
Originally, the deadline was November 30, but it has been extended multiple times. The first extension moved it to December 15, followed by a further extension to January 15, and now it has been pushed back once more.
Importance of UAN Activation
UAN, a 12-digit identifier, is essential for managing provident fund accounts. It serves as a centralized tool for employees to track and access their Employee Provident Fund (EPF) savings efficiently. Activating UAN unlocks several crucial services provided by EPFO, including:
– Online withdrawal of EPF funds
– Checking EPF balance
– Updating contact details
Additionally, linking Aadhaar with EPF accounts ensures seamless direct transfers to linked bank accounts. Aadhaar seeding is crucial for accessing EPFO’s online services, including direct benefit transfers (DBT) and other digital transactions.
What is the ELI Scheme?
The Employment Linked Incentive (ELI) scheme aims to generate two crore jobs in India over the next two years, strengthening the country’s formal employment sector. Announced during the Union Budget 2024, the initiative is part of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s broader strategy that combines five schemes focused on job creation and skill development.
With an outlay of ₹2 crore, the scheme is expected to benefit over four crore youth across the country. As per the latest notification from the Ministry of Labour and Employment, eligible employees must complete UAN activation and Aadhaar linking to avail themselves of benefits under the scheme.
How to Activate UAN Online?
New EPF members can activate their UAN through the EPFO Member Sewa portal by following these simple steps:
1. Visit the EPFO Member Sewa portal.
2. Click on ‘Activate UAN’ under the ‘Important Links’ section.
3. Enter the required details, including UAN, Aadhaar, date of birth, and registered phone number.
4. Enter the OTP received on the registered mobile number to complete the activation process.
This extension offers EPF members additional time to ensure their UAN activation and Aadhaar linking, enabling them to seamlessly access EPFO services and receive incentives under the ELI scheme.
